Description.

The S&T Armament AK-74N Sports Line is a full-length electric airsoft assault rifle with the traditional fixed-stock AK-74 profile and a very convincing faux wood finish. Rather than making the whole thing from steel, S&T uses high-density polymer for the receiver, handguards, stock and pistol grip, backed up by alloy and stamped steel components where extra strength counts. At approximately 2.35kg, this airsoft gun is surprisingly light for a 96cm AK. If you've carried a heavy AK around woodland for six hours, you'll understand why that matters.

Starting at the muzzle, there's a classic AK-74-style brake fitted to the 16.3-inch alloy outer barrel. Remove it, and you'll find a 14mm CCW male thread underneath, opening the door to compatible tracer units, suppressors and alternative flash hiders. The supplied information describes a 420mm tightbore inner barrel, with the main product details specifying a 6.02mm bore. That gives this Airsoft AEG a useful foundation for consistent performance without immediately reaching for aftermarket parts.

The front end sticks closely to the traditional AK-74 layout. You get an adjustable front post protected by substantial sight wings, a dummy cleaning rod and the familiar gas-block arrangement. Behind that sits the faux wood upper and lower handguard. It's polymer rather than actual timber, which saves weight and maintenance, but the varied grain and colouring give the Rifle the right period character. There's also a front sling point built into the lower handguard area for a suitable AK-style two-point sling.

Further back is the classic tangent rear sight. Its open notch gives you a wide view around the target, something I quite like on an AK when you're tracking players moving between cover. The upper handguard and gas tube can also be removed using the AK-style disassembly lever. S&T has gone with VFC-style external construction here, so the gun retains more of that traditional AK strip-down feel instead of hiding everything behind obvious screws.

The receiver is high-density polymer with a matt black finish, while the top cover, fire selector and trigger guard use stamped steel. The outer barrel and front trunnion are alloy. It's a sensible mixture. You still get metal in several of the places where you expect to see and feel it, but without turning the BB Gun into something that becomes increasingly irritating every time you have to sprint back to respawn.

Controls are pure AK. The large selector on the right provides safe, fully automatic and semi-automatic settings, while the centrally mounted paddle magazine release can be operated from either side. Magazines use the familiar AK “rock and lock” loading motion: hook the front of the magazine into the receiver, then rotate the rear upwards until the catch engages. The included wheel-wound high-capacity magazine holds approximately 300 BBs.

Over on the left side of the receiver is the feature behind the “N” designation: a Russian AK-style side optics rail. A compatible mount can be used for traditional AK optics or to add a 20mm rail for more conventional airsoft sights. If you prefer keeping things simple, the adjustable front and rear iron sights are already there and suit the rifle's Cold War appearance nicely.

Pull back the charging handle and you'll expose the adjustable slider HOP-up. It's an uncomplicated system and easy to understand even if this is your first AK-pattern AEG. Adjust the slider to tune the amount of backspin applied to the BB, then test it at useful engagement distance rather than fiddling with it every five minutes. The suggested ammunition weight for this model is 0.25g.

Inside is an alloy Version 3 gearbox with 18:1 steel gears running on 8mm steel slide bearings. There's also a quick-change spring system, useful when power needs to be adjusted to suit site limits. The gearbox is top wired, uses a standard motor and doesn't include an electronic trigger unit. The listed output is approximately 310 FPS ±10% using 0.20g BBs. Power is supplied by a 7.4V battery through a Mini Tamiya connector, with the battery connection accessed beneath the steel top cover.

At the rear, the fixed stock continues the faux wood finish and ends with a steel butt plate. There's no rubber padding here; it's an AK, so comfort clearly wasn't invited to the design meeting. A steel sling loop underneath pairs with the forward sling point, and the fixed stock keeps the traditional silhouette intact. For Soviet-Afghan, Cold War, OPFOR or straightforward classic AK loadouts, it looks the part without demanding the arms of a blacksmith.
