What are hip gun holsters?
A hip holster, also known as a waist holster or belt holster, is a type of holster that is worn around the waist, typically on the side of the dominant hand. It is designed to hold a handgun, typically a pistol or revolver, and is attached to a belt or waistband to keep the holster securely in place.
There are several different types of hip holsters available, including inside-the-waistband (IWB) holsters, outside-the-waistband (OWB) holsters, and ankle holsters. IWB holsters are worn inside the waistband of the pants, while OWB holsters are worn outside the waistband. Ankle holsters are worn around the ankle, typically on the non-dominant side of the body.
Hip holsters offer several benefits for carrying a handgun. They are generally more accessible and easier to draw from than shoulder holsters, as the handgun is located closer to the dominant hand. They can also be more discreet, as the handgun is hidden under clothing and is not as visible as it would be if it were carried in a shoulder holster.
However, hip holsters also have some drawbacks. They could be uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time, especially if the holster is not properly fitted to the handgun or if the wearer is carrying a heavy handgun. They can also be more difficult to conceal if the clothing is not loose enough to cover the holster and handgun.
It is important to consider the exact needs and circumstances of the individual when deciding whether a hip holster is the right choice for carrying a handgun. Some people may find a hip holster to be a comfortable and practical option, while others may prefer a different type of holster.
