Full Metal Construction, Clever G&G Electronics and a Proper 12-Inch Rail. The GC16 MPW Is Built for Players Who Want More Than a Basic M4!

Description

The G&G GC16 MPW 12" AEG Airsoft Rifle in Black is a cracking choice for players who like the familiar M4 platform but want something with a little more substance. Part of G&G's GC16 range, this airsoft rifle combines a full metal alloy receiver, a substantial 12-inch handguard and an electronic firing system that brings some genuinely useful improvements over a conventional mechanical-trigger AEG. It's a modern-looking rifle without going overboard on unnecessary extras.

What makes the MPW particularly interesting is the combination of traditional AR-style handling and upgraded electronics. G&G has fitted an Electronic Trigger Unit (ETU), integrated MOSFET and programmable burst functionality, giving this electric rifle a more responsive feel than many basic M4 replicas. With its 865mm overall length and 2.68kg weight, it's a well-proportioned Airsoft AEG for woodland skirmishes, outdoor games and larger urban environments.

Full Metal Receiver and Solid GC16 Construction

Starting with the body, the GC16 MPW features a durable alloy upper and lower receiver. The outer barrel and handguard are also metal, while the pistol grip and stock use polymer to keep the furniture practical and comfortable.

That combination gives the rifle a reassuringly substantial feel without making it excessively heavy. At approximately 2680g, there's enough weight to remind you you're carrying a full metal airsoft gun, but it's still manageable for a full day's skirmishing.

The MPW follows the familiar AR/M4 layout, so the general handling will feel natural to anyone who has previously used an M4-style BB Gun. The controls are positioned where you'd expect, and the ergonomic pistol grip provides a comfortable hold during longer games.

12-Inch CNC Handguard with KeyMod and Picatinny Rails

Moving towards the front, the GC16 MPW comes equipped with a 12-inch CNC-machined alloy handguard featuring a hard-anodised finish. It's a substantial front end that provides plenty of space for your supporting hand and compatible accessories.

The rail system combines KeyMod mounting slots with traditional 20mm Picatinny sections. KeyMod allows suitable accessories to attach directly to the handguard, helping keep the rifle relatively uncluttered when you don't need additional rail sections.

Along the top runs a continuous Picatinny rail, giving you room for a red dot sight, magnified optic or other compatible sighting equipment. Whether you prefer a simple woodland setup or something with a tactical torch and foregrip, there's plenty of flexibility here.

At the muzzle, you'll find 14mm counter-clockwise (CCW) threading. This common airsoft thread size allows compatible tracer units, mock suppressors and other suitable muzzle accessories to be fitted.

330mm Inner Barrel and Adjustable Hop-Up

Inside the front assembly sits a 330mm inner barrel with a 6.08mm bore. This is a conventional airsoft barrel diameter, suitable for standard 6mm BBs.

The rifle also features an adjustable hop-up system, which applies backspin to the BB to help maintain a flatter flight path. Getting the hop-up properly adjusted for your chosen BB weight makes a noticeable difference to consistency, particularly during outdoor games where engagement distances tend to be longer.

With its 12-inch handguard and carbine-length proportions, the MPW is particularly comfortable in woodland environments. It's still usable around buildings and barricades, although players who spend all their time in extremely tight CQB arenas may prefer something shorter.

Custom Version 2 Gearbox

Inside the receiver, G&G has fitted a custom Version 2 gearbox. The V2 gearbox is one of the most familiar designs in M4-style electric airsoft guns, making it a practical platform for maintenance and potential future upgrades.

The MPW's gearbox uses brass bearing or bushing components and is driven by a long-type motor, with the supplied specification listing a 17 TPA motor configuration. TPA refers to turns per armature, one of the characteristics that influences how an electric motor behaves.

It's a useful internal arrangement for an airsoft assault rifle intended for regular skirmishing. More importantly, G&G has paired the mechanical gearbox with electronic trigger control, which is where the MPW becomes particularly interesting.

Electronic Trigger Unit and Integrated MOSFET

The GC16 MPW features G&G's Electronic Trigger Unit (ETU), using a microswitch-style trigger arrangement rather than relying entirely on traditional mechanical contacts.

In practical terms, this gives the trigger a crisp, responsive feel during semi-automatic shooting. That's especially welcome when you're taking repeated single shots rather than simply holding down the trigger and hoping for the best.

The integrated MOSFET manages electrical switching and helps reduce wear associated with conventional trigger contacts. The system also incorporates low-voltage protection designed to help prevent excessive LiPo battery discharge.

Another useful feature is the programmable 3-round burst function. The rifle normally supports semi-automatic and fully automatic firing, but the automatic setting can be changed to three-round burst using the ETU programming procedure.

On this G&G system, holding the trigger for approximately ten seconds while in the appropriate semi-automatic programming setting changes the automatic firing behaviour. It's a handy option for players who prefer short, controlled bursts, although your chosen site's firing rules always take priority.

One small point worth remembering: electronic trigger microswitches are designed to operate with a light press. There's no benefit to forcing the trigger backwards after it has activated. Treat it sensibly and let the electronics do their job.

Battery Compatibility and Rear-Wired Setup

The G&G GC16 MPW is specified for use with a compatible 11.1V LiPo battery rated at 25C or below. The electrical system is wired towards the rear of the rifle and uses a Mini Tamiya connector.

As always, check that your chosen battery physically fits the available compartment and meets the manufacturer's recommendations. Use a suitable LiPo balance charger and never leave batteries charging unattended.

The built-in MOSFET is a welcome addition, but it doesn't remove the need for proper battery care. A little common sense goes a long way with LiPo packs.

450-Round High-Capacity Magazine

The GC16 MPW is supplied with a 450-round high-capacity magazine, giving you a generous ammunition supply for longer skirmishes.

High-cap magazines use an internal reservoir and winding feed mechanism, so you'll need to wind the magazine periodically to maintain BB feeding. They can rattle when you're moving, but the extra capacity is undeniably convenient if you don't fancy carrying a collection of spare magazines around the field.

The MPW also supports a range of compatible G&G M4-style magazines, making it easier to put together a practical loadout with additional mid-cap or high-cap magazines.

Who Is the G&G GC16 MPW 12" For?

The GC16 MPW is a great option for players who want to move beyond a basic starter AEG and invest in a more substantial full metal rifle. Its electronic trigger, programmable burst mode and familiar Version 2 gearbox make it particularly appealing to regular skirmishers.

It's well suited to woodland games and mixed outdoor environments, where the 12-inch handguard provides comfortable handling and plenty of accessory mounting space. The metal construction also gives it a more substantial feel than lightweight polymer alternatives.

A proper skirmish rifle with plenty of room to make it your own. Just how a good M4-style AEG should be.
