Description
One of the most recognisable and infamous machine guns of the early 20th century, the AGM MP007 MP40 AEG brings it to the airsoft world.
This superb copy of one of the most prevalent but frequently overlooked automatic airsoft guns of the Second World War features the same distinctive hooded front iron sight. we have the option of this brown bakelite-style version or black as the original steel MP40, or we have a two tone blue version for non UKARA Members.
Despite being intended as a Machine Pistol, the MP40 has an under-folding stock made of Alloy that, when not in use, neatly folds away swinging down under the pistol, making it more compact for close quarters combat (CQB) or storage without sacrificing grip.
The MP40 is the go-to SMG for every World War Ii reenactor, whether you're playing as the Nazis or a resistance fighter or an ally. This is because the MP40 was widely used as a battlefield pickup weapon and is still in use by various rebel groups in war zones all over the world.
fire controls
The MP40 is easy to use. The Fire Selector has a "Fully Automatic" and Semi auto position, the "safe" position is controlled by a "on/off" switch at the bottom of the pistol grip.
This gives us a gun that works perfectly for Airsoft, while the exterior is mostly the same as the real MP40.
If you want it to look even more like the real thing, you can get modifications that let you take out the fire selector switch altogether. However, if you do that, you won't be able to use the AEG at CQB sites that only allow semi-auto fire.
Hop up
The MP40's adjustable HOP-up is regulated by a Sliding Lever, which can be found behind the imitation bolt carrier inside the ejection port. This Lever is concealed inside the ejection port. To access the HOP-up adjuster is to hold the charging handle in its back position. Once you have finished making your adjustment, you may let go of the charging handle.
Build
the receiver's architecture, which is meant to be an exact replica of the stamped receiver found in a real MP40.
The guns receiver's top features the grooves and design of a genuine MP40-stamped receiver, and the magazine well is a separate piece that is bent over the top of the receiver around the ejection port.
This is a lovely detail that ensures the MP40 remains true to its roots.
The receiver is also made out of steel, which is realistic and durable.
The lower body of the MP40 is made of polymer, which is a good match for the real MP40, which has a lower receiver made of Bakelite polymer.
The modern polymers used to make the AGM MP40 are much stronger than bakelite. However, if you want a more accurate replica of an early MP40 SMG, you can get an MP40 that looks like bakelite.
Even though the MP40 has a design that has been around for a ages, the grip and handguard are comfortable and well-made. There is a linear gripping texture on both sides of the pistol grip and in the "hand guard" area in front of the lower receiver.
Barrel
The 14mm CW male threading on the outside of the alloy barrel of the AGM MP40 is hidden by a thread protector.
You can add any 14mm CCW male-threaded accessory using a 14mm CW to 14mm CCW adapter.
Putting a tracer or suppressor on an MP40 may not be the most historically accurate thing to do, but it makes the AEG look cool and gives it more uses on the battlefield.
Performance
The Airsoft mp40 fires in semi-auto only at around 300 - 350 fps, and the magazine is a mid-cap that holds around 55 rounds. The bb gun weighs around 3kg and is solid; when the stock is folded out, it's around 830mm long and 620mm when folded.
Sight's
the MP40's front sight, a square post with a hood over it.
If the AEG falls, the hood will protect the front sight and keep it from getting damaged. This is important because the front sight is a fragile and important part of the AEG.
The front sight is the perfect size for Airsoft engagements, being wide enough for fast acquisition but fine enough that accurate shots can still be made.
This front sight goes with the "notch" sight on the back, which has two notches of different sizes that can be chosen. The second notch is best for longer ranges.
The rear sight is in the middle of the receiver. This gives the MP40 a long line of sight, which makes it more accurate.
Magazine
During a reload, the thumb of the supporting hand can press the magazine release is on the left side of the rifles receiver in the magazine well. Considering the MP40 was made to be held by the magazine or just below it, the release is ideally located and features a textured surface to facilitate use in wet or dry conditions.
Build
There is a barrel nut that connects the outer barrel to the receiver. Just behind the nut is the front sling point, which can be used with the rear sling point at the back of the receiver to make a traditional MP40 replica sling.
Summary
Throughout modern history, the authentic MP40 has been spotted in the hands of numerous troops. As such, if you are contemplating a rebel/OPFOR loadout and value realism, the MP40 would be a good pick, as these SMGs are still frequently seen in conflict zones around the world.
If you are more of a reenactor, the MP40 would be a brilliant option for a German WWII-themed loadout, but it would also work well for French Resistance and British SOE due to its ubiquitous 9x19mm pistol ammunition and usage among German occupying troops.
Unsurprisingly for a copy of a World War II-era weapon, the appearance of this Airsoft rifle may be described as "vintage." However, it is still seen in the hands of rebel factions in war zones around the world. Thus it could make for an interesting "OPFOR" or "freedom fighter" main weapon.
Put down your hi-tech weapons, and it's time to go back to basics. Whether you are a Reenactor or just a history buff, this is a fantastic addition to the armoury of any Airsofter.
