Description.
The Umarex Glock G19X MOS Gas Blowback airsoft pistol takes one of GLOCK's most recognisable crossover designs and gives it the optics-ready treatment. Rather than following the usual compact-pistol recipe, the G19X combines a full-size grip with the shorter G19-style slide. In airsoft terms, that gives you plenty to hold onto without the longer upper assembly of a G17. Add the Coyote Tan finish, official GLOCK licensing and MOS slide, and you've got an airsoft gun that stands apart from the endless rows of black tactical pistols.
This particular G19X MOS, Model 2.6586, is licensed by Umarex and manufactured by SRC. It is a Green Gas GBB Pistol built around a metal alloy slide and impact-resistant polymer frame. That metal-over-polymer construction is exactly what you want from this style of BB Gun. There's enough moving mass in the slide to give the blowback some character, while the lower frame keeps the familiar GLOCK-style handling rather than turning the pistol into a hefty lump.
The MOS slide is the headline feature. MOS stands for Modular Optic System, and it provides an optics-ready mounting area on top of the slide for compatible miniature red dot sights. For airsofters who already prefer shooting with a pistol optic, that's a much neater starting point than buying a conventional slide and trying to add an aftermarket mounting solution later.
You'll still need to check the mounting requirements of your chosen optic. Micro red dots use different footprints, and the necessary mounting or adapter hardware depends on the sight being fitted. Don't assume that every pistol red dot will simply bolt straight on. Check the MOS arrangement and optic footprint first, then match the appropriate hardware. Five minutes of checking saves a fair bit of head-scratching later.
Once properly set up, a red dot can make the G19X MOS particularly enjoyable in CQB. Present the pistol and bring the illuminated dot onto the target rather than concentrating on conventional front and rear sight alignment. It can make transitions between targets feel quicker once you've developed a consistent presentation. Prefer iron sights? No problem. The MOS feature doesn't mean you have to run an optic.
The crossover frame is arguably what gives the G19X most of its personality. Instead of shrinking both ends of the pistol, GLOCK paired the shorter G19-style upper with a full-size G17-style grip. For an airsofter, the practical advantage is simple: your whole hand has room to settle onto the grip. Players with larger hands in particular may find that more comfortable than a genuinely compact frame.
That shorter slide also gives the pistol a slightly different balance from a full-length G17. There's less length hanging out in front of your hand, while the full-size lower remains substantial. It makes the G19X feel like its own platform rather than a G17 that's merely been chopped down. Small difference on paper. Quite noticeable when you're actually handling one.
Then there's the colour. The Coyote Tan finish is part of the G19X identity and immediately separates it from a standard black G19 or G17. It works especially well with modern tan, multicam and mixed-colour loadouts, but there's no requirement to colour-coordinate every pouch and buckle. Sometimes a tan pistol in a black holster just looks good. Simple as that.
The polymer frame incorporates the familiar GLOCK-style grip texture, while an ambidextrous slide stop gives both left and right-handed users access to the control. That's useful on the field, particularly if you practise reloads or need to operate the pistol from your non-dominant side. It also brings the controls into line with the modern layout represented by this replica.
At the bottom of the grip you'll find another characteristic G19X detail: the lanyard loop. It might seem like a minor feature, but it suits the duty-oriented character of the crossover platform and gives players the option of attaching a suitable retention lanyard. In woodland games where kit has an annoying habit of finding bushes before you realise it's missing, physical retention isn't such a daft idea.
Move forward along the frame and there's an integrated Picatinny-style accessory rail. This provides a mounting point for compatible pistol lights and other suitable accessories. A compact light makes particular sense if you're setting the G19X MOS up for indoor CQB, where identifying what you're actually looking at is rather more useful than simply decorating the pistol with accessories.
The firing system is Green Gas powered. Gas is injected into the magazine, and each trigger pull uses that stored gas both to fire the 6mm BB and operate the blowback action. The metal slide cycles backwards, resets the mechanism and returns forward ready for the next semi-automatic shot. It's a much more involving action than a fixed-slide gas pistol, with the movement giving a satisfying snap through the hand.
Quoted muzzle velocity is approximately 300-330 FPS when tested using 0.20g BBs under standard ambient conditions. As always with a gas-powered airsoft handgun, treat that as a guide rather than an unchanging number. Temperature, gas pressure, magazine temperature, BB weight and firing pace can all affect the reading. Chronograph the pistol using your site's required BB weight and procedure before play.
Inside, the G19X MOS uses a fully adjustable rotary hop-up. The hop unit applies backspin to the BB, helping it maintain a flatter flight path rather than dropping away early. Don't overlook this adjustment. A properly set hop can make a much bigger difference to useful accuracy than chasing a few extra FPS.
The trick is to tune it for the ammunition you're actually going to use. Start with a sensible setting, fire a few BBs down a clear range and watch the final part of their flight. Too little hop and they'll drop early. Too much and they'll climb towards the end. Small adjustments are the way forward; winding controls around randomly tends to turn a five-minute job into twenty.
The trigger incorporates the familiar GLOCK-style safety blade. The central section must be depressed as part of a normal trigger pull, giving the replica another recognisable functional detail. The pistol operates in semi-automatic only, which is exactly what you'd expect from the G19X platform. One pull, one BB, slide cycles, repeat.
Official licensing matters here because the G19X is a very distinctive design. The authentic GLOCK rollmarks and correct platform styling make this more convincing than an unlicensed airsoft handgun that merely borrows the general silhouette. If you're putting together a modern loadout or simply like replicas that retain the details of the platform they're based on, the proper markings finish things off nicely.
As a skirmish sidearm, the G19X MOS has a useful mix of features without getting silly. The full-size grip gives you a solid hold, the shorter upper keeps the profile manageable, and the MOS system allows you to build an optic-equipped setup without replacing the entire slide. Add a compatible light underneath and a micro red dot above, and it becomes a very modern CQB airsoft pistol. Leave both off and it's still a straightforward GBB pistol.
There's also something to be said for the G19X as an alternative to the usual G17. Both provide a substantial grip, but the crossover proportions make the G19X feel and look different. The Coyote Tan colour reinforces that distinction. If you've already got several black GLOCK-style pistols in the collection, this one isn't going to disappear into the crowd.
Like any Green Gas blowback pistol, it does appreciate basic maintenance. Keep the inner barrel clean, look after the magazine seals and use suitable lubricants on the appropriate moving and sealing components. If you fit a red dot, periodically check its mounting hardware as well. A gas blowback slide repeatedly moving underneath an optic has a knack for finding loose screws eventually.
For someone buying their first serious gas airsoft pistol, the G19X MOS is still approachable. You don't need to understand every part of a GBB system to use it. Load the magazine with BBs, fill it with appropriate Green Gas, set the hop and you're away. The extra features become useful as your setup develops rather than making the basic pistol unnecessarily complicated.
For more experienced airsofters, it's the combination that makes this model interesting. The G19X crossover proportions are already distinctive; adding the MOS slide makes the platform considerably easier to configure around modern pistol optics. Throw in adjustable hop, authentic controls, metal blowback action and official licensing, and you end up with a very usable airsoft handgun rather than something that relies on GLOCK branding alone.
Overall, the Umarex Glock G19X MOS is a well-specced gas blowback sidearm for players who want modern features but prefer the unusual G19X format over a conventional full-size pistol. It's compact where it makes sense, full-sized where your hand actually meets the gun, and the MOS arrangement leaves plenty of scope for building it around your preferred sight setup. A practical crossover – with a bit more personality than another black box on a holster.
