Description

The AUG is one of the most famous weapons of the 20th century. Its almost space-age design and unusual look made it the star of many films and sparked the interest of a whole generation of gun fans and Airsofters.

The AUG has a two-stage trigger system, which means that a short pull of the trigger will fire semi-automatically, while a full pull to the back will fire fully automatically. This means that if you need to switch modes quickly to deal with a moving target, you can do it faster with the AUG platform than with almost any other AEG.

This version of the AUG has a 20mm Picatinny quad rail that fits in front of the AUG's folding grip. The 20mm rails let you choose from a variety of tactical devices, like torches and lasers, depending on how you like to play.

The front of the AUG has a duckbill flash hider, which is only found on this type of weapon. This is one of the most recognisable parts of the AUG's design. If you don't like the flash hider, you can always switch it out for a different muzzle device, like a silencer or tracer unit, by using the 14mm CCW thread.

One benefit of bullpup rifles is that they can have a longer barrel in a relatively short length. For example, the AUG has a 20-inch barrel that is mostly hidden in the body and has a total length of less than 32 inches. Instead of something like an M4, which would be much longer with a similar barrel, the AUG gives you the length you need for accuracy and range while keeping you light and mobile on your feet while skirmishing.

On the right side of the handguard, there is a hole for the AUG's fake gas block. On the real gun, this part controls the flow of gas to the system that makes the gun work. This lets the AUG be set for normal or bad conditions. This part doesn't do anything in Airsoft, but it's a good idea to keep it on this AUG copy so it looks like the real thing.
Even though this version of the original class has a more modern rail, it still has a lot of the famous features and design choices that made the AUG such a forward-thinking rifle, way ahead of its time. It has a hot-swap barrel system, just like the real thing.

This lets you quickly take off the outer barrel for repair or to change the length of the barrel. To remove the outer barrel, you need to lock the charging handle back and up into its "safety notch" and push and hold the catch on the left side of the receiver, between the handguard and the trigger guard. Holding down the barrel removal catch, you can turn the barrel a few degrees clockwise while the barrel is pointing away. Then, you can pull out the whole outer barrel and handguard.

The part of the upper barrel that sticks out is made of alloy, and the part that goes inside the receiver is made of polymer that looks like phosphate.

Along the upper receiver, there is a long 20mm Picatinny rail that connects smoothly to the handguard rail. This gives the gun a modern look and the functionality to keep up with other cutting-edge designs. This rail length is long enough to hold a full set of mission tools, like a PEQ15, an optical sight, a tactical torch and backup iron sights, if you want to give this AUG that cool special forces look.

We can see the AUG's charge handle on the left side of the upper. This handle is made of high-density polymer and links to an aluminium rod inside the receiver. This rod moves the mock bolt, which shows the rotary HOP-up adjuster inside the ejection port. Pull the charging handle all the way back and turn it up into its "safety notch" to lock it. This will hold the mock bolt back while you set your HOP-up. The adjustable HOP-up lets you set up the AUG for different weights of ammo and gives the gun a longer range by giving each BB a backspin.

Because the release port is on both sides of the AEG, the HOP-up adjuster can be reached from either side. Out of the box, a rubber cap covers the ejection port on the left side of the AEG. This cap can be taken off and put on the right side, or it can be taken off the AEG completely so you can change the HOP-up setting more quickly while you're in the middle of a battle.

The AUG's controls are a little different from those of most other guns, but they are well-made and can be used from either side, so left-handed people don't have to worry.

The safety catch is a push-through design that is just above the pistol grip. When the safety protrudes on the right side, the gun is on safe and the trigger is locked. If you push the safety through so that it sticks out on the left, the trigger lock will be unlocked.

As part of its space-age design, the grip and stock of the AUG are built into a single piece that is called the "chassis" of the gun. This piece is made of high-density, fibre-reinforced polymer and has a nice, rough feel.

This update to the AUG adds raised, textured plates on both sides of the grip and on the butt stock itself to make it easier to operate in wet weather.

With a longer "grip length," the AUG's trigger guard is a big part of its familiar shape. It also makes it easy to reach the trigger, even when wearing thick winter gloves. This trigger guard can also be used as an angled foregrip for CQB conditions where the shooter is in a tight stance.

The AUG's magazine release is on the bottom of the stock, right behind the magazine well. It is in the middle so that it can be used with either hand.

This magazine release was one of the first modern bullpup guns to come out, Unlike the Tavor, with this rifle you can't accidentally dump your magazine by hitting the mag release, and unlike the L85, you don't have to be right-handed to use it well.

The AUG's battery compartment is inside the stock, and you can get to it by pulling off the rubber buttplate. Inside, there is a mini-Tamiya battery adapter and a battery compartment that is a good size and can fit either stick or nun-chuck LiPo batteries.

The long inner barrel of this compact AEG also helps it work well, and the rotary-style AUG HOP-up unit is known to be one of the best out there. It was the model for the rotary unit found in more recent M4/AR15 AEG releases.

So, if you've been thinking about trying out a bullpup but also wanted something a little more modern, especially in terms of rails, here's your chance to get what you wanted.

The AUG has all the benefits of a bullpup, such as a short overall length and a long barrel, great handling and balance, and the ability to fit into smaller gun bags and cases than comparable traditional rifles. It also has a quad-railed handguard, which lets you mount anything you want onto it.
