Description

The AUG is one of the 20th century's most emblematic rifles.

A whole generation of firearms enthusiasts and Airsofters were captivated by the AUG's almost space-age design and unconventional appearance.

The Snow Wolf Railed AUG is a unique take on the classic "civilian" railed AUG, with some contemporary features to complement the futuristic appearance of this design that broke the mould in the 1970s.

This AUG variant features a 20mm Picatinny quad rail that attaches in front of the AUG's folding grip. The 20mm rails allow you to mount a variety of tactical devices, such as torches and lasers, depending on your preferred playstyle.

This is a distinct feature of the AUG that complements the longer barrel. If this particular flash hider is not to your satisfaction, you can always replace it with another muzzle device, such as a suppressor or tracer unit, that uses the 14mm CCW thread.

A benefit of bullpup rifles is the ability to accommodate a longer barrel in a relatively short overall length. For example, the AUG has a massive 26.5-inch barrel that is largely concealed within the body and has a total length of less than 38 inches. In contrast to other DMRs that would be much longer with a comparable barrel, the AUG gives you the length you need for accuracy and range while still allowing you to be relatively manoeuvrable and mobile while engaging in skirmishing.

On the right side of the handguard, there is a cutout for the AUG's false gas block. This component controls gas flow to the operating system and allows the AUG to be tuned for normal or adverse conditions on the actual rifle. The inclusion of this non-functional Airsoft component is necessary to make this AUG replica appear authentic.

While this variant is a more modern railed take on the original class, it still retains many iconic features and design choices that made the AUG such a forward-thinking rifle, way ahead of its time. Similar to the original, it features a quick swap barrel system.

This allows the outer barrel to be rapidly removed for maintenance or to switch between barrel lengths. To remove the outer barrel, you must lock the charging handle into its "safety notch" and depress and retain the catch on the left side of the receiver, between the handguard and the trigger guard. With the barrel removal catch depressed, the barrel can be rotated a few degrees anticlockwise while facing away, allowing the entire outer barrel and handguard to be removed.

The external section of the outer barrel is made of alloy, whereas the section within the receiver is made of polymer with a realistic phosphate finish.

The upper receiver features a long 20mm Picatinny rail, and while it retains the classic AUG carry handle, it is also ideal for DMR shooting at longer distances when used in conjunction with the sights or optics of your choosing.

The rail combines the old with the new by incorporating a fresh, contemporary spin on the classic AUG design while maintaining the functionality to compete with other cutting-edge designs. This rail length is sufficient for a complete complement of mission-critical accessories, such as a PEQ15, optical sight, tactical torch and backup iron sights, should you wish to outfit this AUG in the special forces style we all adore.

On the left side of the upper, we can observe the AUG's charging handle. This handle is made of high-density polymer and attaches to an aluminium rod inside the receiver, which triggers the mock bolt and exposes the rotary HOP-up adjuster inside the ejection port.

Pulling the charging handle to its rearmost position and rotating it upwards into its "safety notch" will secure it, holding the mock bolt back while you adjust your HOP-up. By applying backspin to each BB, the adjustable HOP-up allows you to calibrate the AUG for different ammunition weights and extends its range.

Thanks to the ambidextrous ejection port design, the HOP-up adjuster can be accessed from either side of the AEG. The left side ejection port is covered by a rubber cap out of the box, but this can be removed and placed on the right side, or left off the AEG entirely to make it easier to modify the HOP-up setting mid-battle.

The AUG's controls are a little different from those of most conventional rifles, but they are well-designed and functional from either side, so left-handed shooters need not worry. The safety catch is a push-through design located just above the pistol grip; when the safety protrudes on the right side, the trigger is secured and the firearm is in the safe position.

The trigger lock can be disengaged by pushing the safety so that it protrudes and continues. The AUG utilises a two-stage trigger system, meaning that a short pull of the trigger will discharge the weapon semi-automatically, while a full pull to the rear will fire the weapon fully automatically.

This means that if you need to quickly put a burst down range to engage a moving target, the AUG platform allows you to swap modes faster than virtually every other AEG on the market.

As part of its space-age design, the "chassis" of the AUG rifle, the grip and stock are integrated into a single element. This item is made from a high-density, fiber-reinforced polymer with a premium texture. This modernization of the AUG includes raised textured surfaces on either side of the grip and on the butt stock to aid in use during wet conditions.

With its elongated "grip length," the AUG's trigger guard is primarily responsible for its recognisable silhouette and enables quick access to the trigger even when wearing thick winter gloves. This trigger guard can also serve as an angled foregrip for use in CQB situations with compressed postures.

The AUG magazine release is located on the underside of the stock, just behind the magazine well, and is positioned centrally for left- and right-handed operation.

This magazine release was one of the first modern bullpup rifles on the market, and the AUG got it right on the first try. Unlike the Tavor, there is no possibility of accidentally dumping your magazine, and unlike the L85, you do not need to be a natural right-hander to operate it effectively.

The AUG's battery compartment is located within the stock and is accessible by removing the neoprene buttplate. Inside, you will find a mini-Tamiya battery connector and a battery compartment of sufficient size to accommodate stick or nun-chuck LiPo batteries.

We suggest a 7.4V 1300mAh LiPo battery in either a Crane or Stick configuration for the AUG.

The internals of this unique AUG rifle have been upgraded since the first Army Armament AUG release, featuring reinforced steel gears, a reinforced piston with a directional piston head and a bearing-equipped spring guide, guaranteeing smooth operation and a longer life than previous generations.

The long inner barrel of this compact AEG also contributes to its excellent performance, and the rotary-style AUG HOP-up unit is widely regarded as one of the finest on the market, serving as the inspiration for the rotary unit found in more recent M4/AR15 AEG releases.

So, if you've been pondering a foray into bullpup territory but were also seeking something more akin to a DMR, this is a truly distinctive option.

This AUG has all the exterior features you require, including rails, a barrel, and a flash hider, and is notably unique in comparison to other DMR options.

The AUG has all the bullpup advantages, such as a short length relative to the size of the barrel, exceptional handling and balance, and the ability to fit into smaller gun bags and cases than comparable conventional DMRs, while avoiding the disadvantages with the addition of a quad-railed handguard that allows you to mount anything you desire.
