A Tactical All‑Rounder That Works Indoors & Out

Description.

If you’re after an airsoft rifle that combines modern tactical style with versatile performance, the Secutor ASTRA IV Shadow M‑Lok AEG in Black is worth a close look. Its sleek lines, fabric‑wrapped suppressor style, waffle‑textured magwell, and intelligent ergonomics give it a contemporary appearance — but it also delivers where it counts on the field, indoors or outdoors. This isn’t just about looks: this airsoft gun has the guts to back it up, featuring a pre‑installed Ares EFCS MOSFET/ETU that brings programmability usually seen in higher‑end platforms.

From the muzzle back, the ASTRA IV’s suppressor gives the rifle a purposeful, special‑operations feel. The inner barrel actually runs to the tip of the suppressor, meaning shorter tracer units or alternate devices will require a barrel extension — that’s simply the trade‑off for this integrated suppressor aesthetic. The outer barrel is alloy and threaded 14mm CW at the tip, so with a 14mm CW to CCW adapter you can still mount common tracer units, flash hiders or silencers as you see fit.

Just behind that, a 9‑inch aluminium M‑LOK handguard waits for your accessories. Negative‑space M‑LOK slots at the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions let you add grips, lights or lasers without weighing down the rifle unnecessarily. The top 20mm Picatinny rail flows seamlessly into the receiver rail, meaning optics — from compact red dots to longer magnified combos — mount without interruption. A pair of flip‑up aperture iron sights are included too, adjustable for both windage and elevation, with a wide aperture for fast engagements and a tighter one for more precise shots.

The receiver sports a distinctive waffle texture on the magazine well that’s not just cosmetic — it gives your support hand a little extra purchase when you need it. A high‑density polymer dust cover keeps weight down while echoing minimalist real‑steel design trends. Above it, the low‑profile charging handle reduces snag points as you manoeuvre and, when pulled back, pops the dust cover open to reveal the rotary HOP‑up unit — easy to tune for whatever BB weight you’re running on game day.

Ambidextrous controls across the ASTRA IV Shadow further its utility. With the fire selector, magazine release and bolt catch available on both sides of the receiver, left‑ and right‑handed shooters alike can work the rifle comfortably. The fire selector offers safe, semi‑automatic and fully automatic positions with a crisp 90‑degree throw, and thanks to the Ares EFCS system, you can reprogramme it for burst or semi‑only modes using the separate Ares EFCS programming box if you want deeper control.

The pistol grip’s ergonomic angle and textured surface make holding the ASTRA IV natural, regardless of stock position or weather. The enlarged trigger guard accommodates gloved hands, and the flat serrated trigger surface gives a predictable contact point for rapid follow‑up shots. In practice, this setup feels balanced and intuitive — ideal when engagements heat up at close to mid‑range.

Down the back of the rifle, the alloy AR buffer tube hosts a five‑position adjustable stock built from high‑density polymer. Adjustability is critical when you’re switching from indoor CQB to more open outdoor fields, and here you get that without compromising comfort. The angled butt plate and slightly raised cheek pad make for a secure hold against your shoulder and cheek, even when running heavier gear. QD sling points on both sides of the stock mean you can mount a sling to suit your style, too.

Battery access is tidy and discrete — just pull back the stock, slide it off the buffer tube, and untwist the end cap to reach the Deans connector. A 7.4 v 1300 mAh 25C LiPo stick battery fits comfortably in the buffer tube, putting weight low and forward for balanced handling.

Inside, the ASTRA IV Shadow is powered by the Ares EFCS version 2 gearbox featuring 18:1 ratio steel gears and a quick‑change spring system that makes power tuning easier than ever. The high‑torque motor delivers a snappy trigger response that’s especially appreciated in tighter engagements, and the integrated MOSFET protects your battery with low‑voltage cut‑off while offering reprogrammable fire modes if you pick up the EFCS programmer separately. The 8 mm bearing and bushing configuration adds durability, too.

This airsoft rifle plays well in a wide range of environments. Its size makes it agile enough for indoor arenas while still holding its own in outdoor scenarios. At around 330‑350 FPS with 0.20 g BBs from the factory, it hits a sweet spot for many UK skirmish sites without needing immediate upgrades. Factor in the modular foregrip and adjustable stock, and you’ve got a platform that’s ready to go straight out of the box.
