Description.
The LCT MRK-74 AEG Airsoft Rifle in black is one of those airsoft guns you pick up and instantly think, “Yep… this is the real deal.” LCT have a reputation for building AK platforms that feel as close to the genuine article as you can get in the airsoft world, and this one carries that legacy without cutting corners. If you’re searching for a solid Rifle that blends old-school AK muscle with modern practicality, this deserves your attention.
Let’s start with the foundation. The receiver is stamped steel. Not pot metal. Not lightweight alloy. Proper stamped steel, just like the firearm it replicates. You feel it straight away. There’s weight here. Substance. The outer barrel, gas piston assembly, front sight, and muzzle are all steel too, giving the whole platform that unmistakable AK heft. It doesn’t rattle. It doesn’t creak. It feels planted and dependable, like it was built to take a knock or two during a long woodland skirmish.
At full extension, the overall length comes in at 985mm. Fold or collapse the adjustable stock and you’re looking at around 925mm, which makes it easier to manoeuvre through tighter spaces or transport in a rifle bag. The six-position adjustable polymer stock gives you flexibility depending on your loadout, plate carrier setup, or shooting stance. Tall player? Shorter arms? Heavy winter gear? No problem. Dial it in and it sits right in the shoulder. There are multiple QD sling attachment points too, so whether you prefer a single-point or two-point sling, you’re covered.
Moving forward along the body, the handguard is made from durable ABS. Now before anyone turns their nose up at polymer, hear me out. The balance is spot on. With the steel receiver and barrel up front, keeping the forend lighter makes it less fatiguing during longer games. When you’re aiming down sights for extended periods, that weight distribution actually helps. It steadies the rifle without feeling front-heavy and awkward.
The pistol grip follows the same ABS construction, giving a firm, comfortable hold. It’s textured enough to stay secure with gloves or damp hands, which, let’s be honest, is half the UK game days sorted. Wet woodland, muddy ground, drizzle in the air… you get the picture.
Internally, this Airsoft AEG runs a full metal Version 3 gearbox with 9mm bushings. If you’ve been around AK platforms for any length of time, you’ll know the V3 gearbox is a proven workhorse. It’s robust, simple to maintain, and widely supported with upgrade parts if you ever decide to tweak performance down the line. Out of the box, it’s paired with a standard short-type motor and delivers between 380–400 FPS using .20g BBs. That puts it firmly in the sweet spot for most UK woodland sites (always check your site limits, of course).
The 435mm inner barrel with a 6.05mm diameter gives you a nice balance between range and consistency. Combine that with the adjustable hop-up unit and you’ve got a setup that can lift heavier BBs comfortably. Dial the hop properly and you’ll see smooth, stable flight paths that stretch out across open ground. Not wild, not unpredictable. Just consistent, accurate shots that land where you expect them to.
Fire modes are straightforward: semi-auto and full auto via the traditional AK selector. The selector has that satisfying mechanical click as it moves. Semi for controlled shots when you’re holding an angle. Full auto when you need to lay down pressure and keep heads down. Simple. Effective.
One detail I really appreciate is the 14mm CCW threaded muzzle. That opens the door for suppressors, tracer units, or alternative flash hiders. If you run night games or indoor CQB with tracers, this makes life easy. Just screw your unit on and you’re good to go.
On top of the receiver, you’ve got an adjustable rear leaf-style iron sight paired with the classic AK front post. They’re solid, all metal, and hold zero without fuss. Prefer optics? The integrated AK/SVD style side rail lets you mount compatible optic brackets without messing around with dust cover replacements. Red dot, prism scope, even a low-power optic if you’re building a more designated marksman-style setup. It’s versatile without losing its AK identity.
The magazine included holds 130 rounds, giving you that realistic mid-cap experience. No winding. No rattling. Just load your 6mm BBs and get on with it. For players who prefer immersion and disciplined reloads, this is a great match. And yes, it feeds reliably thanks to LCT’s tight tolerances between mag and hop unit.
Power-wise, this airsoft gun runs on an 8.4v stick battery or a 7.4v Li-Po (Type 05 Stick or Type 26 Li-Po recommended). The connection is Deans, which is great news for efficiency and better electrical flow compared to older connectors. Just note: battery and charger are not included, so you’ll need to factor that in. The battery position sits mid-body in classic AK fashion.
In terms of use, this sits firmly in the modern warfare era category. It’s an AK at heart, but the adjustable stock and clean black finish give it a more contemporary edge. Whether you’re building a modern Eastern Bloc impression, private military contractor loadout, or just want a dependable electric assault rifle with character, it ticks the boxes without trying too hard.
Now let’s talk feel during a game. The weight. The balance. The sound of that gearbox cycling. It has presence. You shoulder it and it just sits there, stable and ready. On semi, it’s crisp. On full auto, it keeps a steady stream without sounding strained. It doesn’t feel like a toy. It feels like equipment.
And that’s the thing with LCT. They don’t chase gimmicks. No unnecessary blowback system here. No flashy extras that add wear. This is a straightforward, solid AEG built for players who value realism and reliability. A proper BB Gun for serious skirmishing, not something you’ll outgrow after a few weekends.
For tech-minded airsofters, the Version 3 gearbox means upgrade potential is wide open. Tight bore barrel swap? High torque motor? MOSFET installation? All possible if you ever decide to tune it further. But honestly, straight out of the box it performs exactly how a skirmish-ready AK should.
