Description.

The EMG Strike Industries SI-90 AEG is what happens when the familiar P90 bullpup layout gets a serious modern overhaul. Officially licensed by Strike Industries through EMG and manufactured by King Arms, this compact Rifle is based around the Strike Industries modular chassis for the FN PS90. It still has the top-mounted magazine and compact bullpup proportions P90 players know, but practically everything around them has been reworked. The result is an airsoft gun that feels considerably more contemporary than a conventional P90 or basic BB Gun.

The front end immediately sets the SI-90 apart. Depending on the variant, you'll find either a licensed Strike Industries Oppressor-style muzzle device or the longer PS90-style barrel arrangement. The compact version provides a 14mm CCW male thread, making it straightforward to fit compatible tracer units and mock suppressors. Around it sits an aluminium modular handguard combining M-LOK slots with 20mm Picatinny mounting space. Remove the handguard and there's even a lower Picatinny rail underneath. Handy if you prefer a stripped-back setup with just a small vertical grip.

The aluminium upper receiver continues the accessory-friendly theme. There's a full-length 20mm top rail for a red dot or optic, along with removable side rails for lights and laser units. Emergency backup sights are incorporated into the receiver arrangement, so the SI-90 isn't completely dependent on an electronic optic. The charging handles are mirrored on both sides and use steel bars, although their role on this Airsoft AEG is largely cosmetic.

It's the Strike Industries chassis that really changes how this P90-style electric rifle handles. The grip sits at a more upright, AR-15-like angle than a traditional P90 grip, with textured panels and a thumbhole section connecting it to the stock. It feels particularly natural when shooting from a standing position. Add the adjustable cheek riser and rubber butt plate and you've got a platform that's far easier to tailor around your optic, face protection and plate carrier.

Controls are ambidextrous, as you'd hope from a bullpup designed around practical handling. The rotary selector beneath the trigger provides safe, semi and automatic settings. In full-auto mode, the two-stage trigger can fire a single shot with a short press or automatic fire when pulled fully. QD sling sockets are positioned at the front and rear, giving you sensible mounting points for a two-point sling without having to improvise with paracord and optimism.

Inside is where this airsoft rifle gets particularly interesting. King Arms has fitted an upgraded Version 6 gearbox using Tokyo Marui-compatible internal architecture, 18:1 CNC steel gears, 9mm bushings and a polymer piston with a full steel tooth rack. A high-torque neodymium motor keeps the response lively, while the quick-change spring system makes future power tuning less of a workshop job.

The headline component is the EShooter Kestrel V6 Basic ETU. Traditional P90 AEGs use a trigger linkage which can make the trigger feel long and slightly disconnected. The Kestrel electronic trigger system removes that old arrangement, giving the SI-90 a much sharper response. It also provides programmable firing modes, including 3-round burst and binary trigger functionality, together with five levels of adjustable pre-cocking. Dialled in correctly, pre-cocking can make semi-auto response impressively immediate.

The rotary HOP-up is accessed through a small door inside the stock thumbhole. Adjustment lets you tune the backspin applied to your BBs and find a flatter trajectory for your chosen ammunition weight; 0.25g BBs are suggested for this platform. The inner barrel has a 6.05mm bore, with barrel length varying between the compact and extended versions.

Battery access is through the rear of the chassis after removing the rear pins and butt plate. The SI-90 is rear-wired to a Deans connector, with a 7.4V 1450mAh stick-style LiPo recommended for a straightforward fit. There's also a QR code inside linking to the EShooter programming instructions, which is a nice touch when you've forgotten which trigger sequence changes which ETU setting halfway through a game day.

The top-loading magazine system remains pure P90. Pull the two magazine release tabs rearwards and the magazine lifts free, allowing reloads without rotating the whole gun. The supplied magazine is an approximately 100-round mid-cap. One compatibility detail is worth noting before buying spares: this model is compatible with King Arms and KRYTAC P90 AEG magazines, but it is stated as not being compatible with CYMA P90 magazines.

For an airsofter who likes the compact nature of a bullpup but wants something less conventional than another M4, the SI-90 has plenty going for it. It's recognisably P90 underneath, yet the aluminium Strike front end, improved grip angle, adjustable cheek piece and EShooter-equipped V6 gearbox change the experience substantially. Futuristic? Definitely. But there's proper practical thinking behind the looks too.
