Description.

The Cyma CM650 AR47 RIS AEG Rifle is one of those designs that makes perfect sense once you get it in your hands. At heart it's an AR15-style electric rifle, giving you familiar M4 controls, an adjustable crane stock and acres of accessory space. Look underneath, though, and you'll find the distinctive curved AK-style magazine. It's an unusual combination, but a useful one, especially for an airsofter who likes AR ergonomics but fancies something a little less ordinary than another standard M4.

The real-world inspiration comes from the SR-47 concept, which combined an AR-style platform with the ability to use AK-pattern ammunition and magazines. Cyma has carried that hybrid appearance into this airsoft gun, building the CM650 around the widely used Version 2 gearbox architecture. The result is a Rifle that looks different without saddling you with an obscure internal design that's awkward to work on later.

Starting at the front, the CM650 wears an inbuilt mock suppressor surrounded by a 10-inch free-float quad rail handguard. The rail itself is polymer, which helps keep the front end lighter than an equivalent chunk of aluminium. With rails running around the handguard, there's plenty of room for compatible lights, grips, PEQ boxes and other accessories. Maybe don't bolt everything on at once unless you're aiming for the tactical hedgehog look.

A full-length top rail continues across the upper, giving you a long, uninterrupted mounting surface for optics and accessories. Flip-up front and rear sights are already fitted, so the Airsoft AEG remains perfectly usable without immediately buying a red dot. If you do add an optic, the folding sights can be dropped out of the sight picture when they're not needed.

Cyma uses durable injection-moulded polymer for the upper and lower receiver, keeping the CM650 relatively light at a stated 1,870g. The barrel assembly and buffer tube are metal, adding strength where it's useful without turning the whole gun into something you'll resent carrying by lunchtime. For a full-sized BB Gun with a roughly 410mm inner barrel and substantial front rail, 1.87kg is quite manageable.

At the rear is a six-position crane-style stock. Adjustment ranges from a shorter setup for tighter environments through to a longer length of pull for players who prefer more room around the shoulder. That adjustability is particularly handy when switching between lightweight clothing and bulkier tactical kit.

Inside sits a full-metal Version 2 gearbox. That's an important feature because the V2 design is one of the most established gearbox formats in airsoft, with plenty of knowledge and compatible upgrade components available. The supplied specification also lists a quick-change spring system, making spring servicing and power adjustment considerably less involved than on older gearboxes where a complete strip-down could be required.

The CM650 also comes equipped with a MOSFET. Rather than sending the full electrical load through basic mechanical trigger contacts, a MOSFET manages the electrical switching more efficiently. For the average player, the useful takeaway is better electrical management and reduced wear on the trigger contacts. It's a worthwhile addition to an Airsoft AEG intended to see regular skirmish use.

A long-type motor drives the gearbox, while the hop-up is adjustable so you can tune the backspin applied to your BBs. That adjustment is important for getting the best usable trajectory from the approximately 410mm inner barrel. Set it correctly for your chosen BB weight and you'll generally get a flatter, more useful flight path than simply leaving the hop untouched.

Feeding is handled by an AK-style magazine, with a 180-round mid-cap supplied. That's a nice match for the AR47 concept: you retain the AR-style controls and stock arrangement but get the distinctive curved magazine underneath. Semi-auto and full-auto firing modes are available alongside the mechanical safety, covering the usual woodland and skirmish requirements.

The CM650 is therefore less about pretending to be either a pure M4 or a pure AK and more about borrowing useful elements from both. You get AR15 handling, extensive RIS accessory space, an adjustable stock and the familiar Version 2 gearbox, then throw an AK-style magazine into the mix. Add the MOSFET, quick-change spring arrangement and supplied battery and charger, and you've got an unusual but practical AEG that should appeal to anyone bored of seeing the same rifle shape on every rack.
