Description.

The Cyma CM009A3 Metal Body M16A3 AEG Airsoft Rifle in Black goes back to the classic full-length AR formula. No stubby CQB front end and no ultra-short sliding stock. Instead, this Rifle gives you the long M16A3 profile, full-metal construction, traditional iron sights and a fixed stock. It's an airsoft gun aimed at players who appreciate the balance and unmistakable appearance of a proper full-sized M16.

Being an electric rifle, the CM009A3 uses a familiar Version 2 gearbox and long-type motor. That makes the internal layout recognisable to anyone who's spent time around M4 and M16 Airsoft AEG platforms. There's no MOSFET fitted according to the supplied specification, so this is a more conventional electrical setup using a Mini Tamiya connector. Straightforward rather than overloaded with electronic extras.

The first thing you'll notice is simply the length. The M16A3 configuration gives the CM009A3 a much longer profile than the compact M4 variants that dominate many skirmish sites. That isn't necessarily a disadvantage. On open woodland fields and outdoor sites, the longer format gives you a stable platform with plenty of room for a natural support-hand position. It feels planted when shouldered rather than twitchy or front-cramped.

Cyma has gone with full-metal construction, giving the rifle a substantial feel and helping reproduce the character of the original AR platform. If you're putting together a classic military-inspired or MilSim loadout, that makes a noticeable difference. Pick this up after handling a lightweight polymer BB Gun and there's considerably more presence to it.

The fixed stock is equally traditional. You don't get multiple length-of-pull settings, but you do get a consistent shoulder position every time you mount the rifle. For deliberate semi-auto shooting from standing, kneeling or supported positions, that solidity is rather nice. There's no stock adjustment to knock out of position halfway through a game either.

Up front, the CM009A3 uses a lengthy 500mm inner barrel together with an adjustable hop-up. Hop adjustment lets you alter the backspin on the BB to suit your ammunition and obtain a flatter usable trajectory. The long barrel suits the overall M16 format, although barrel length by itself shouldn't be mistaken for a guarantee of extra range or accuracy. Good hop setup and sensible BB choice remain important.

The supplied specification lists the CM009A3 at approximately 1.75 joules, or around 436 FPS when measured using a 0.20g BB. That's a significant power figure for an Airsoft AEG and may exceed the limits permitted for automatic-capable replicas at many UK skirmish sites. Definitely chrono it and check your site's rules before use rather than assuming it'll be game-ready everywhere straight from the box.

Internally, the rifle is based around a Version 2 gearbox. The V2 has been used across M4 and M16 AEGs for years, so it's a well-known design with broad familiarity among airsoft technicians. Cyma describes the CM009 as being built for dependable long-term operation, making it a sensible base for players who want a conventional field rifle rather than something packed with proprietary electronics.

Fire controls cover semi-auto and full-auto alongside the safety. The familiar AR-style control layout makes operation intuitive if you've already used an M4-pattern airsoft rifle. The traditional iron sights continue that theme, giving the CM009A3 the classic M16 sight picture rather than turning it into another heavily accessorised tactical carbine.

A 300-round magazine capacity is specified, giving you plenty of ammunition for longer woodland games. The muzzle is threaded 14mm CCW, a very common airsoft standard, allowing compatible cosmetic muzzle devices and tracer units to be fitted if you decide to alter the front end.

The CM009A3 won't be the natural choice for someone spending every weekend squeezing through tiny CQB rooms. That's not really its job. This is the long M16 – the sort of airsoft rifle that makes more sense across woodland paths, open objectives and traditional field games. If you prefer classic AR proportions, metal construction and uncomplicated V2 internals, it offers a pleasingly straightforward alternative to today's sea of short-barrelled M4s.
