Description.

The A&K PKM is a seriously substantial airsoft rifle, based on the distinctive PKM general-purpose machine gun. This is very much a support weapon rather than a lightweight assault rifle, and at around 7.3kg it has the heft to prove it. For an airsofter putting together a Russian-inspired loadout, a support gunner setup or a reenactment kit, the PKM certainly has presence. Calling this a big BB Gun is underselling it somewhat; once you have carried one around a woodland site for an afternoon, you'll know you've been carrying it.

A&K have gone heavily into metal construction, giving the airsoft gun the solid, mechanical feel you'd expect from a PKM replica. This Real Wood Finish version adds traditional-looking furniture to the package and suits the old-school profile nicely. The main compartment can be opened using its latch for filling, while a separate quick-fill hatch allows BBs to be topped up without completely removing the magazine. Electric winding takes care of feeding, making the setup far more practical when you're using the gun for sustained automatic fire.

Moving towards the receiver, the adjustable hop-up is accessed beneath the top cover. That lets you tune the backspin applied to the BB and find a useful trajectory for your chosen ammunition weight. The battery is also housed in the upper receiver, with the listed battery type being an 8.4V mini. Fire controls are refreshingly straightforward: safe or fully automatic. No semi-auto middle ground here. It behaves like the support weapon it is trying to replicate.

At the rear you have the AK-style pistol grip and the PKM's characteristic stock arrangement, including a flip-up shoulder rest. Adjustable front and rear iron sights complete the sighting system, while details such as the mock charging handle and carry handle help retain the recognisable PKM profile.
