What are the different types of gun rails?
There are several different types of rails that are commonly used on airsoft bbguns, including:
-
Picatinny rails: These are the most common type of rail and are named after the Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey, where they were developed. Picatinny rails have a series of notches or slots that allow the mounting of accessories using specially designed clips or screws normally this type of rail is used on air guns and not bb guns.
-
Weaver rails: These rails are similar to Picatinny rails, but they have a slightly different pattern of notches and slots. Weaver rails are not as common as Picatinny rails, but they are more widely used with the guns we sell.
-
KeyMod rails: These rails are a newer design that use a series of "keyholes" instead of notches or slots to allow the mounting of accessories. KeyMod rails are designed to be lightweight and easy to install.
-
M-LOK rails: These rails are another newer design that use a series of slots and tabs to allow the mounting of accessories. M-LOK rails are also designed to be lightweight and easy to install.
To fit a scope or other attachment to a bb gun rail, you will need to follow these steps:
-
First, make sure that the scope and the gun are compatible. Some scopes may not fit certain guns or may require special mounting hardware.
-
Next, attach the mounting rings to the scope. These are typically secured to the scope using screws or other fasteners.
-
Place the mounting rings onto the rail, aligning the holes in the rings with the notches or slots in the rail.
-
Secure the mounting rings to the rail using the included screws or fasteners. Tighten the screws evenly and securely, but be careful not to overtighten them, as this can damage the scope or the rail.
-
Once the mounting rings are secure, you can slide the scope into place. Make sure that the scope is properly aligned and seated in the mounting rings.
-
Finally, adjust the eyepiece and reticle of the scope to your preference. You may need to adjust the windage and elevation settings to properly zero the scope.
It is important to follow these steps carefully and to use the proper mounting hardware to ensure that the scope is securely attached to the gun and will not come loose during use.
