Description.
The Pyrosoft Pyro-5M is a disposable simulation and training grenade designed around the familiar RGD-5 style, making it suitable for approved airsoft sites, military sports and reenactment activities where pyrotechnics are permitted. Its ABS plastic casing contains white chalk rather than BBs, producing a chalk effect on activation. Each grenade weighs approximately 140g (+/-5%) and uses an active safety lever, while the stated 3.5-4.2 second delay gives it the characteristic timing associated with this style of training pyro.
During an airsoft skirmish, chalk-filled pyro can provide a different effect from conventional BB-firing equipment and can complement an airsoft gun loadout where site rules allow its use. The Pyro-5M has a stated maximum sound pressure of 120dB and a P1 pyrotechnic classification. There is sometimes debate among airsofters over chalk, BB-filled and purely acoustic pyro; chalk offers an easily recognisable simulation effect without using BBs as the filler, although individual sites determine how grenade hits and room-clearing rules are scored.
Practical touches include an IP66 rating, with the manufacturer stating that the grenade is resistant to rain and short-term immersion in water. That can be useful during the sort of wet woodland skirmish where everything in your kit eventually seems to acquire a coating of mud. The Pyro-5M is produced in Ukraine, supplied as a 12-pack and has a stated storage life of 12 months. This is an 18+ pyrotechnic product and should only be used at designated venues in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, applicable regulations and individual airsoft-site rules. Eye protection should be worn, gloves are recommended, and disposable units must not be dismantled.
