Description.
If you’re after an electric rifle that handles like a dream but still packs enough punch for open-field play, the G&G CM16 Compact 556 in black deserves your attention. It’s part of G&G’s Combat Machine lineup, which already carries a reputation for being rock-solid skirmish guns. But this one’s got some tricks up its sleeve. Specifically? A unique folding stock system, an ergonomic rail setup, and an internal build that borrows from G&G’s higher-end platforms—all bundled into a tight, responsive package.
The first thing you’ll notice is the compact profile and the striking silhouette. This isn’t your average M4 clone. The interrupted 20mm Picatinny rail on top breaks tradition—and for good reason. That gap gives your support hand a natural, flat spot for a modern C-clamp grip. It’s more comfortable, quicker to transition between targets, and just plain makes sense for aggressive movement and modern airsoft gunfighting techniques.
The stock is where things get really clever. G&G’s CHFS (Conductive Hinge Folding Stock) system means you can fold the stock to the side—and still fire. That’s right. No cutting power, no messing with adapters. It maintains electrical contact through the hinge, giving you maximum compactness without sacrificing performance. That’s a huge win for anyone who plays CQB or wants a lower-profile transport option.
Internally, G&G packed this thing with their upgraded MIG gearbox—a toughened Version 2 design that’s pulled from their more advanced G2 platform. It’s got 8mm steel bushings, a mechanical trigger setup, and is powered by a G&G long-axis motor spinning at around 18,000 RPM. It’s not some overclocked gimmick setup—it’s stable, reliable, and easy to maintain. You’ll get snappy semi-auto shots and consistent full-auto strings without weird motor strain or gearbox fatigue.
Accuracy comes from a 270mm precision brass inner barrel paired with a rotary hop-up chamber. That’s a sweet spot length for balancing indoor and outdoor play—long enough to reach out in open spaces, short enough to stay agile indoors. The hop dial clicks cleanly, and once set, it doesn’t drift mid-game. At the front, the outer barrel is threaded 14mm CCW, which means you’re free to mount a tracer, suppressor, or flash hider of your choice.
Included is a 30-round mid-cap magazine with visible dummy rounds. It’s a nice touch, especially if you’re into realistic loadouts or just like the added detail. Of course, it’ll feed fine with standard M4-style mid or high-cap mags if you want more capacity. The dual flip-up fibre-optic sights round out the externals—usable, lightweight, and low profile.
At around £269.99, the CM16 Compact 556 doesn’t pretend to be budget gear—but it offers a serious value proposition. You’re getting features that normally live on higher-end rifles: a folding stock that actually functions, upgraded internals, and thoughtful ergonomics—all without the fluff. Whether you’re playing indoor speed games or doing woodland push-and-clear missions, this airsoft assault rifle gives you the flexibility to run how you want.
