Description.

The Cyma CM370 M1014 Tri-Barrel Airsoft Shotgun takes its inspiration from the modern M1014/M4 tactical shotgun and turns that familiar shape into a practical spring-powered CQB platform. Unlike a conventional Rifle, there's no motor whirring away and no gas system to keep topped up. Pump it, shoulder it and pull the trigger. Three BBs head downrange together, giving this airsoft gun the spread and close-range character you'd actually want from a shotgun rather than simply making a BB Gun that happens to look like one.

The important bit here is Cyma's tri-shot system. Pulling the foregrip fully rearward and then pushing it forward chambers three BBs, with all three firing together on the next trigger pull. Each BB travels through its own inner barrel, so you're getting a genuine three-barrel setup rather than three BBs being pushed through one tube. That makes the CM370 particularly entertaining around doorways, rooms and short woodland engagement distances where a three-BB spread can increase your chance of connecting with a moving player.

Being entirely spring powered also makes this a wonderfully uncomplicated bit of kit. Every shot is powered by manually cycling the pump, so there's no battery to charge and no gas pressure changing as temperatures drop. The trade-off is obvious: you have to work the action between shots. That's part of the appeal, though. Running a pump-action shotgun forces a very different playing style from holding down the trigger on an AEG, and landing a good tri-shot hit after working your way through a building is ridiculously satisfying.

The pump action has some theatre to it as well. Cycling the foregrip moves the mock bolt carrier and charging handle, adding a convincing mechanical movement and sound to each reload stroke. The action needs to be pulled fully back and pushed completely forward to chamber the next three BBs. Short-stroking it won't do you any favours, so a positive pump is the way to go.

Externally, Cyma uses a mixture of metal and durable polymer to keep the M1014 manageable while retaining useful weight where it counts. The outer barrel and magazine tube are metal, providing rigidity along the front end, while polymer components help prevent the shotgun becoming unnecessarily cumbersome. The matt black, non-glare finish suits the modern tactical profile nicely without looking overly shiny or toy-like.

The tactical stock gives you a proper shoulder anchor, which becomes surprisingly important once you've spent a game repeatedly working a fairly substantial spring-powered action. Bracing the stock against your shoulder lets you cycle the foregrip positively and then settle straight back onto the target. It's much easier to develop a smooth pump-fire-pump rhythm when the back of the shotgun isn't wandering around.

Sighting is handled by an adjustable rear iron sight with windage and elevation adjustment. Its wide aperture works nicely for the sort of quick target acquisition this shotgun is intended for. You aren't trying to make tiny groups at extreme range; bring the sights onto the target, account for the three-BB spread and take the shot. Fast and uncomplicated.

Shell loading adds another bit of shotgun flavour. The CM370 uses Tokyo Marui-style shell magazines, with compatible shell types holding the BBs internally. The supplied information specifies 30-round shell compatibility, meaning ten three-BB trigger pulls from a fully loaded 30-round shell. The shell release is positioned around the trigger guard area, and the retention arrangement allows the shell to drop down for removal rather than simply launching it onto the floor. Anyone who has spent five minutes crawling around a dark CQB site looking for a lost shell will appreciate that detail.

The safety is also positioned around the trigger guard and uses a push-through arrangement, with a red indication showing when the shotgun is ready to fire. The fixed, non-adjustable hop-up keeps operation simple. There's no need to balance three separate adjustments before a game; load suitable BBs, test the spread and learn where the shotgun puts them at your usual engagement distances.

At a stated 300-350 FPS when measured using 0.20g BBs, this is a shotgun you'll want to chrono according to your site's rules before playing. As with any tri-shot platform, actual performance and spread matter just as much as the headline velocity, particularly when you're using it in close quarters.

The end result is a refreshingly mechanical airsoft shotgun. No electronic trigger settings, no battery connectors and no gas bottles rolling around in your kit bag. Just shells, BBs and that chunky pump action. If your idea of fun is clearing structures, holding tight corners and making every trigger pull count, the Cyma M1014-style tri-shot offers something very different from the usual AEG experience.
