Description.

The CYMA CM680G Platinum Tactical AK47 takes the familiar AK formula and gives it a serious modern overhaul. Rather than building this Rifle around traditional heavy furniture and a fixed stock, CYMA has gone down the lightweight tactical route with reinforced polymer construction, ergonomic furniture and an adjustable M4-style stock. Underneath sits the proven Version 3 gearbox architecture with CYMA Platinum Series components, making this an airsoft gun aimed at players who want AK reliability without lugging around a traditional full-metal heavyweight.

Despite its AK roots, this electric rifle feels much closer to a contemporary carbine once it's shouldered. The M4 buffer tube and adjustable CQB-style stock give you control over the length of pull, so the Airsoft AEG can be shortened when you're working around buildings or extended when you want a more conventional shoulder position. It's particularly handy when you're wearing a plate carrier or bulky chest rig, where a fixed AK stock can sometimes feel like a park bench attached to the back of the gun.

Weight reduction is one of the main themes of the CM680G. CYMA uses reinforced nylon fibre / polymer construction extensively rather than simply making everything from metal. That's deliberate. Less weight means faster transitions between targets and less fatigue during longer skirmishes. The supplied specifications list the rifle at approximately 2640g, so while it's certainly not feather-light in the literal sense, it's still designed as a lighter alternative to many traditional metal-bodied AK builds.

The front end continues the modern theme. An ergonomic lightweight polymer handguard uses a slip-resistant surface, giving your support hand a positive grip without needing to cover the gun in extra rail accessories. The tactical handguard arrangement also provides scope for compatible accessories, while the Picatinny/1913 top rail gives you a straightforward mounting point for red dots, holographic-style sights and other compatible optics.

Internally, the CM680G uses a full-metal Version 3 gearbox with CYMA Platinum Series components. The supplied specification describes high-speed gearing, a performance motor and reinforced internals, all centred around the familiar V3 shell. That's a good foundation because the Version 3 gearbox is widely used throughout AK-pattern AEGs and has strong aftermarket support. Servicing and future upgrades are therefore far less mysterious than they would be with a proprietary gearbox.

A short-type motor drives the system, while the adjustable hop-up lets you tune the amount of backspin applied to the BB. Combined with the approximately 455mm inner barrel, the hop adjustment gives you the ability to set the BB trajectory for the ammunition you're actually using. The stated muzzle velocity is around 330 FPS, although any skirmish airsoft rifle should still be chronographed with the site's required BB weight before use.

Fire controls provide the usual semi-auto, full-auto and safe settings. That makes the CM680G flexible enough for general woodland games as well as closer-range environments where semi-auto restrictions may apply. Its adjustable stock also helps here: shorten the rifle when you're moving around tighter structures, then extend it again when you're working from more open positions.

Feeding is handled by a 500-round AK-style high-cap magazine. Compatibility is stated for AK Series AEG magazines from brands including Tokyo Marui, G&P, CCCP and Big Foot, giving you considerably more choice when adding spare magazines to your loadout. A 500-round high-cap also gives the CM680G plenty of ammunition straight from the box, especially useful if you prefer longer games without constantly swapping magazines.

The muzzle uses a standard 14mm negative thread, commonly referred to in airsoft as 14mm CCW. That gives you access to a broad selection of compatible cosmetic muzzle devices and tracer units should you want to change the front-end setup later.

What makes the CM680G interesting isn't any one feature. It's the mixture. You get the curved magazine and dependable V3 gearbox associated with an AK, but the adjustable M4-style stock, lightweight tactical furniture and optic-friendly setup make it handle more like a modern carbine. Add CYMA Platinum internals, adjustable hop-up and the included battery and charger, and it's a practical package for an airsofter who likes AKs but has no particular desire to keep things traditional.
