A British Military Legend Reborn – Real Wood, Real Steel and Beautifully Authentic Bolt-Action Handling!

Description.

There are certain rifles that need very little introduction, and the Lee Enfield is definitely one of them. The Ares Lee Enfield No 4 MK1 Classic Airsoft Rifle in Wood brings one of Britain's most recognisable military firearms into the airsoft world, complete with genuine wooden furniture, extensive stainless steel construction and wonderfully authentic bolt-action operation. If you've been searching for a proper old-school airsoft rifle rather than another modern tactical replica, this is something rather special.

Part of the Ares Classic Line, this spring-powered airsoft sniper rifle recreates the famous No.4 MK1, a rifle closely associated with British and Commonwealth forces during the Second World War. Unlike a modern polymer BB Gun covered in accessory rails, the Ares Lee Enfield sticks closely to its historical roots. Proper wood, substantial steel components and a traditional bolt-action mechanism. No batteries, no gas magazines and certainly no unnecessary tactical furniture. Just a beautifully detailed replica of a British military classic.

Genuine Wooden Stock With Outstanding Historical Detail

Starting at the front, the first thing you'll notice is the beautiful real wood furniture. Ares hasn't gone down the cheaper imitation wood route here. The stock and handguard feature genuine timber with natural grain patterns, giving each rifle the character you'd expect from a traditional military firearm.

The woodwork follows the familiar profile of the original No.4 MK1, with its long fore-end and distinctive military styling. It's the sort of rifle that looks equally at home leaning against a sandbag emplacement at a WWII airsoft event or sitting proudly in a historical collection.

And that's really the attraction. Modern airsoft guns can be impressive, but there's something about a full-length wooden battle rifle that you simply don't get from another black polymer carbine.

At the rear, the traditional rifle stock provides a comfortable shoulder position, while the overall design retains the unmistakable appearance of the British service rifle. Traditional sling mounting points also allow a suitable rifle sling to be fitted for carrying the replica between engagements.

Extensive Stainless Steel Construction With QPQ Finishing

The metalwork is where the Ares Lee Enfield really separates itself from many cheaper historical airsoft replicas.

According to Ares, approximately 95% of the rifle's metal construction uses Grade 304 stainless steel, with QPQ surface finishing applied for additional surface protection and durability. This gives the rifle a particularly substantial feel, while avoiding the lightweight die-cast appearance sometimes associated with budget replicas.

The metal receiver, barrel assembly and exposed components complement the wooden furniture beautifully. Nothing feels visually out of place, and the traditional military profile has been carefully maintained.

At approximately 3600g, this isn't a featherweight airsoft gun. It's a full-size replica with the reassuring heft you'd expect from a historical battle rifle. That weight adds to the sense of authenticity, although you'll certainly notice it after carrying the rifle around a woodland site all afternoon!

Measuring 1125mm from end to end, the Ares No.4 MK1 also has the proper long-rifle proportions. For historical reenactment, military-themed airsoft games or display purposes, those dimensions make a big difference.

Realistic Spring-Powered Bolt-Action Operation

Moving to the action, the Ares Lee Enfield uses a spring-powered bolt-action system, staying true to the deliberate shooting style associated with the original rifle.

Before each shot, you manually operate the bolt to cock the internal spring mechanism and prepare the next BB for firing. There's no electric motor doing the work for you, and no gas supply to worry about. It's a straightforward mechanical arrangement that suits the character of the replica perfectly.

The bolt movement is designed to feel smooth and satisfying, making the rifle enjoyable to operate whether you're taking careful shots at a skirmish or simply appreciating the engineering.

Of course, this isn't going to compete with an Airsoft AEG when it comes to volume of fire. That's rather the point. The Lee Enfield rewards patience, positioning and careful shooting instead of spraying BBs everywhere and hoping something connects.

Innovative Direct BB Feeding System and 35-Round Magazine

One particularly interesting feature is the new direct BB feeding system developed for the Ares Classic Line.

Rather than using an awkward external feeding arrangement that spoils the rifle's appearance, Ares has incorporated a magazine-based system designed to maintain the authentic styling of the No.4 MK1.

The included magazine holds 35 rounds of standard 6mm airsoft BBs, providing a useful ammunition capacity for a traditional bolt-action platform.

It's a clever compromise between historical appearance and practical airsoft performance. You retain the familiar look of the original service rifle while benefiting from a magazine capacity suited to modern airsoft skirmishing.

The manual bolt-action system also encourages a more considered approach to shooting. Make the first shot count, work the bolt and settle back onto your target. Simple, satisfying stuff.

Beautiful Presentation for Collectors and Historical Airsofters

Ares has clearly paid attention to the presentation of its Classic Line rifles, and the No.4 MK1 is no exception.

The rifle comes in a specially designed wood-grain effect plastic gun case, styled to resemble an old military storage crate. Inside, the rifle is presented with protective brown wrapping that adds to the historical character of the package.

It's a lovely touch, particularly if you're buying the Ares Lee Enfield as a collector's piece. The combination of genuine wood, stainless steel construction and period-inspired packaging makes the whole experience feel rather different from opening a typical airsoft rifle box.

This is the standard CLA-004 No.4 MK1 version. Ares also produces the CLA-005 No.4 MK1(T) sniper variant, which includes a metal and steel scope mounting arrangement with a pre-installed scope. Scope and mount accessories are also available separately for compatible configurations.
