Amazon avoiding paying tax in the uk
Posted by
onjust saw a report saying
"Online retail giant Amazon has fuelled further anger over its tax bill as it emerged the group's UK business paid just £11.9m in tax last year, despite the group taking £5.3bn in sales from British shoppers. Amazon's UK sales, which represent 9.4% of its global turnover, are taken through the group's Luxembourg arm, called Amazon EU Sarl.
Sales from many countries within Europe are booked at its Luxembourg business, and are not taxed in the country where the shopper carried out the transaction."
bbguns4less is just a small company and we pay our full share of uk tax just like most of the other small uk websites to help the country pay for schools and hospitals ect.
we dont blame any shopper trying to save a few quid on there shopping but if the prices are the same on a uk website as on amazon or ebay why not try and support your local business and buy from them instead.
if website is a little more expensive try and email them and ask if they will price match amazon. (i bet they will - we price match any site inc ebay and amazon)
if you do buy with them along with supporting the country and jobs in the uk you will also get the benefit of dealing with specialists in the product you are buying and not some faceless organisation based in Luxembourg.
just a thought but let us know what you think in the comments below.
